3D House Design Contest

Have you ever dreamed to design your own house?

The STEAM club is holding a school-wide 3D House Design contest.

We invite anyone that wishes to participate to submit their 3D exterior house design.

You can use any CAD (computer-assisted design) software to create your dream home.

To submit your work, name your .stl file as FirstNameLastNameHouse. and email it to Ms. Boral at eboral@molloyhs.org by April 10th.

A panel of judges will decide on their favorite designs based on your originality, printability, and element of surprise!

Have fun! And remember, the deadline is April 10th.

Meet Jeffrey, Molloy’s New STEAM Robot

ovember, 2017

The STEAM Club has a brand new member: Jeffrey, an Arduino Robot. Jeffrey knows how to follow a line, avoid obstacles, and can be controlled remotely via infrared light or an Android phone. Jeffrey was built from electronic parts, such as circuit boards and sensors, and is programmed in the C programming language.

Club presidents Anthony Pizzulli and Pahola Bustos said that the hands-on experience in Arduino programming and electronics gave members a solid knowledge in robotics and sparked their interest in learning more about engineering and automation.

The STEAM club has two more robot kits to assemble and program. Their plan is to build a race track so that robots can race against each other.

Guest Speaker on Science & Cyber-Security

October, 2017

In early October, Dr. Vincent Scovetta, a college professor and researcher in the disciplines of Computer Science and Cyber-Security, served as a guest speaker in Ms. Boral’s AP Computer Science Principles class. Dr. Scovetta shared his experiences in web development, large data systems, factors that affect how we manage information, social networking, and issues of privacy and ethics in information systems. This special visit was made possible by our friends at Long Island University Post.
